Transience
Artist Statement
Transience explores the passage of time and our interconnectedness with natural landscapes. My interest in this photographic and philosophical journey is inspired by personal impressions regarding impermanence and my awareness of nature during our brief time on Earth.
A fascination with sky gazing began during childhood and has continued. To this day, I am content with fixing my gaze at the sky and watching the clouds glide by.
Everything undergoes change and is transient. The images describe the tranquility of nature, to which I am drawn on both physical and spiritual levels. With a curiosity about impermanence as our human condition, I explore experience within the natural environment. In each image, I reflect on the passage of time through beauty in nature, joy and love - all these are extensions of the subjective experience - using the historical wet-plate collodion process to reinforce this ephemeral quality.
